Zurixx Employees Continue their Work with Courage Reins
January 25, 2017 — Zurixx will be continuing its work with Courage Reins, a Utah-based charity, in 2017 and starts off the new year by donating 25 helmets to the organization. Courage Reins provides therapeutic riding and other equine-assisted therapies to the mentally and physically handicapped at their 16-acre facility outside of Salt Lake City.
Zurixx’s donation of riding helmets follows its $100,000 donation in 2016 and volunteering with Courage Reins. Each week, two Zurixx employees volunteer and help with classes offered at the facility. Our employees assist the children with their therapy, groom the horses, and more.
“Volunteering at Courage Reins has been a great opportunity to serve the community and help out with a tremendous cause,” said Carter Brown, Director of Coaching. “It’s rewarding to talk with the kids and see the excitement on their faces as they ride around and interact with the horses.”
Courage Reins was founded in 1998 after one of its current board members saw first-hand the positive effects that therapeutic riding had on a little boy that was physically disabled. Today, the mission of Courage Reins is to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities through individualized and specialized equine-assisted treatment.
“Courage Reins is making such a difference in the lives of these children,” said Elizabeth Sharp, Accountant. “Just from the limited time I have spent there, I can see that the lessons they provide for the students are so important.” We at Zurixx look forward to continuing this partnership and hope more of our employees have the opportunity to get involved.
