Zurixx Teams Up with The Road Home to Prepare Sack Lunches for Children in Need

February 27, 2017 – A group of 14 of our Success Path team members, led by Zurixx Utah President Jeff Spangler, recently volunteered with The Road Home, a private non-profit social services agency that assists individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Salt Lake County and along the Wasatch Front, preparing healthy lunches for children in need.

The event with The Road Home was a success, with volunteers bagging sack lunches for young kids not yet old enough to participate in the free/reduced lunch programs offered in school. “When I heard about the mission and values of The Road Home I knew it was an organization I wanted Zurixx to partner with,” said Spangler. “Being able to help these children, even in a small way, was a very rewarding experience and one that I hope will continue.”

Operating the largest homeless shelter in Utah, The Road Home provides emergency shelter and personalized case management to help people identify and overcome the obstacles that have led them to becoming homeless. Most of the children in the shelter go to local schools and receive free/reduced price school lunches, but The Road Home still has, on average, 60 children who aren’t in school yet and are in need of volunteers to prepare and deliver sack lunches to these kids.

Zurixx has a long commitment to serving its community. “One of the reasons I came to Zurixx is because in my research and interview I found out that they give back to the community,” said Coach Deborah Price. “I like the satisfaction of working for a company that cares about the community. I think it not only helps others but when we do for others we feel better too.”
